Why it matters in a longevity plan
Persistently high blood pressure can affect the heart, brain, kidneys and blood vessels even when you feel well. In HLC care, the result informs a practical discussion of activity, sleep, nutrition, alcohol, medicines and overall cardiovascular risk. It also gives a measurable way to follow the response to an agreed plan.
Good technique comes first
The cuff must fit your arm. Sit quietly with your back supported, feet on the floor and arm supported at heart level. The team allows a period of rest and takes repeated readings when appropriate. Recent exercise, caffeine, nicotine, pain and talking during measurement can affect the result.
From individual readings to a decision
The report records systolic and diastolic pressure in mmHg, often with pulse and measurement conditions. If readings vary between settings, the clinician may recommend a home log or ambulatory monitoring. A diagnosis and a treatment target depend on repeated results and your clinical context.
