Evidence labels

Understanding evidence and use status

The strength of the evidence and the regulatory status of a use answer different questions. Both matter.

How much evidence supports the claim?

In this proposed framework, Established means strong human evidence supports the specific claim in the relevant population and context. Emerging means human evidence is early, limited or inconsistent. Routine use alone does not establish evidence strength. Each label must identify the supporting evidence and its limits.

How is the intervention being used?

Use status is recorded separately for the relevant jurisdiction. For an approved medicine, off-label use is outside its approved terms, such as the condition, dose or route; it is not an evidence-strength rating. Investigational status has its own legal and oversight requirements and does not establish routine availability. This website does not offer access to an investigational intervention.

What the labels cannot decide

A label does not establish personal suitability, availability at a clinic or an expected benefit for you. Those decisions require the relevant evidence and clinical assessment.
